Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) Training Program
Next session begins Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Classes will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Tuesdays for six weeks. Another class begins Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This class will meet every Wednesday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.. for six weeks. Last class date of the year starts October 14th - Tuesday's from 1-5 p.m. Please e-mail Shannon at shannon@vetss.org for more information.
Veterinary Staffing Solutions is now offering a hands-on Certified Veterinary
Assistant training program. The instructor of this program is Shannon
Ramsey, RVT. (See her bio on the right side of this page) This program
consists of classroom time, online classwork and hands-on internships. Classes meet weekly at our training facilities at 1400 Woodloch Forest Drive, Suite 300, in The Woodlands, Texas.
At the end of the 6-week program, you will have learned the skills of a
Certified Veterinary Assistant and completed the course work for the CVA - Level I State Exam. If you are interested in working as a Veterinary Assistant but do not currently have the skills, we can help you obtain the training you need to qualify for a job in this terrific field.

The 6-week CVA program that I recently completed through VSS was a
worthwhile educational experience. The topics covered throughout the
program were relevant, well thought out and presented in such a way that
translating the information into clinical experience was effortless. I know

CVA Instructor Shannon Ramsey is
a native of West Texas where she was
actively involved in 4-H and FFA. After
working for an Equine Practitioner she
realized that her dream was to become a
professional in the field of veterinary
medicine. She enrolled in the Veterinary
Technology Program at Sul Ross State
University (SRSU) in Alpine, Texas and
completed the program in 1998. She
worked two years for mixed animal
practice before she accepted the position
as RVT Instructor for SRSU.
As the Instructor for the Vet Tech
Program she taught all aspects of
veterinary nursing and prepared the
students for the national and state
exams. During her summers at SRSU she
did several internships including two at
A&M as well as at an Emergency Clinic in
Annapolis, MD and a small animal practice
in Eugene, OR. She left that job after
five years to move to New Waverly and
start a life with her husband. She
worked for the Veterinary Hospital of New
Waverly as the Staff Supervisor before
following her heart back into teaching and
training.
Shannon is married and has three dogs
(“Moses” – Bernese Mtn. Dog, “Dakota” –
Shepherd/Husky mix and “Ashes” – liver
Dalmation). She also has two quarter
horses – “Nicky” and “Diamond”. She is
actively involved in professional
organizations such as National Association
of Veterinary Technicians of America
(NAVTA) and Texas Veterinary Medical
Association (TVMA). She also stays
involved in her church and community.
